diy kind of girl...

it's been a few weeks since projects have been in full force at our place but i think it's because we are a little warn out from them. we have cleaned a lot out and it feels SO good. i finally think we've organized/cleaned every room in our house. thank heavens i married someone who is clean! i have put together some before/afters....so you can see the progress we made! eric & i feel so lucky to have found such a great place to live. we love it and we love coming home!

BEFORE
AFTER
office. my parents kindly loaned us the desk that fits perfectly. 435839 papers have been shred. everything have been filed properly. we probably had 1 bag to giveaway just from this room. pictures were hung and now we finally use the room! i love passing by and seeing eric sitting at the computer!

 BEFORE

 AFTER
laundry room. that before picture is horrible. anyway, obviously we now have a washer and dryer!! yaay! cleaning supplies have been put to use and organized. tool box is now in the garage and the vac is in the hall closet. i do laundry more than i should because i love having one so close! i've only ruined 2 shirts...kind of :)
BEFORE
 AFTER
bedroom! eric is the best. he basically made the entire headboard. i picked out the tweed fabric and then he used his muscles to get the wood, jigsaw cut the shape i wanted, staple all the foam/fabric and then we both hauled it to the room. we still are going to tack along the edge of the design but that will be later. we bought bed risers that are AWESOME. {added 8in} it feels so different to sleep in a high rise bed! i bought the one pillow with writing but i'm chainging a few of the ones shown and adding a few with different materials. i am also going to make a bed-skirt.

 BEFORE

 AFTER
closet. this didn't change too much from the previous picture. i did get rid of a lot of clothes but i swear you can't tell. i made the plunge pretty soon after marriage to get these hangers and they are awesome! the most bang for your buck will be at tj or bed bath & beyond. they add SO much more space in your closet and make it look so much better.
BEFORE
AFTER
sewing table/front entry table. i love how this piece turned out! i decided to do a honey-mustard color. once it was finished i decided i want to keep it mainly closed. i sanded it all down with the orbital as well as sand paper. i switched out the knobs with some cuter ones and for the time being have the glass container & little white board for decoration.

garage. this space didn't have a before picture but it was either crammed with boxes/furniture or covered in dust from redoing furniture. eric did organize it but since i have a weird fetish about doing it myself, i did....and went ahead and put our things in plastic bins. don't look too close at the baby bin;) we also have bins labeled ali & eric. we have put old treasures and school things in there. i had so much fun looking at eric's stuff! maybe i'll share some later on but we had a good laugh--that is for sure! oh and those chairs stacked up are all the ones we still need to finish....uh....long process.

BEFORE
AFTER
front door. not the best picture from before, but you get it. i made this wreath with my mother in law. it took for.ever. luckily we had fun and can chat it up whenever so that wasn't a problem. it's hard to tell what it is made of exactly, i should have gotten a closer picture. we got 100's of coffee filters, tea stained them, twisted them & baked them in the oven, then glued each one to a styrofoam pre-made wreath. i love it because the coffee filters are different stains/colors. i added the ribbon, newspaper flower & flag for july. i need to switch it out now but i thought it turned out great!
besides that i sanded down our coffee table in the front room and stained that. eric has been the master gardner & kept the flowers/weeds in check. with a lot of stuff we wanted to get rid of/d.i. we added on to eric's familys garage sale. we were soo pleased with the outcome! who knew that our trash could be someone's treasure!!
totally random but i had to document my awesome look after my run this morning. i was completely drenched but i was sooo happy because it rained....POURED... for 4 miles for me. people probably thought i was crazy because i was smiling so big while running. i decided a long time ago that anything is better in the rain, and i truly believe that! ohhhh and who's excited for bach tonight?! ME! {and eric} i'm thinking jp...but not very sure.
hope you are having a good day!

xoxo

it's totally jp. ben started dating that completely forgettable girl from brad's season - brittany, maybe? - while the show was airing.

and everything looks fab. FAB.

i wish each project were a single post so i could comment on all of them. First of all, LOVE the headboard! the mustard table is totally cute, and i like the organization in the garage. Is it 1 or 2 car? I need to buy tubs. I think that will make all the difference. Are those hangers a special kind? Did you attach the headboard to the bed frame? Or is it leaning? Thanks for posting, and fun to see you Saturday!
